The announce of arrests was made simultaneously by the IG, CB CID VSK Kamudi in Hyderabad and superintendent of police Anil Kumar in Adilabad.

But unlike the high profile press conference which mark the announcement of busting of a terror module, there was no hullabaloo at the press conference where arrests were announced. Anil Kumar did not answer any queries from the reporters and remained content with issuing a brief written statement. But it is generally believed that they were the activists of Hind Vahini, a front organization of Bajrang Dal. The arrested persons were also not produced before the media.

Kamudi said that both the persons were residents of Vatoli village and had admitted their involvement in the burning the family of Mahubu Khan in the wee hours of October 12 in Vatoli village, 11 kms away from riot hit Bhainsa town.

The Director General of Police SSP Yadav on the other hand said that the police had identified ten persons involved in Vatoli village and all of them will be arrested soon.

“Using scientific methods we have proved that this was a case of murder and not an accident”, Yadav said after a high level meeting with the Chief Minister. Yadav said that all the wanted persons were from Andhra Pradesh.

According to the unofficial sources, a local advocate and a education department employee were among the wanted persons.

During the high level review the Chief Minister directed the police to take stringent action against the culprits of Bhainsa and Vatoli and ensure that they are convicted and punished by the courts.

Yadav said that 136 people were arrested in connection with the Bhainsa riots and they include the members of both the communities.

Meanwhile the police have handed over the leg of Mahbub Khan, the head of the burnt family to his sons for burial. Of the six members of the family burnt in the incident, Mahbub Khan’s body was found with out a leg. Later the leg was sent to the Forensic laboratory in Hyderabad for tests. After the leg was sent back from Hyderabad, the police officials handed it over to the family members.

Mahbub Khan’s two sons Anwar Khan, a Jawan in Indo Tibetan Border Security Force and Imran Khan were among those who attended the burial.

Meanwhile a two member team of the National Minorities Commission, after visiting Bhainsa said that the riots in Bhainsa and Vatoli incident were preplanned and organized. The commission members Dilip Padgaonka and Prof Zoya Hasan told the media in Hyderabad after the meeting the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that the incidents were also the result of the failure of the police.

“The mischief of the communal forces has now spread from the urban areas to the villages”, Zoya Hasan said. The team will submit its report to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
