Islamabad : Visiting German Foreign Minister Frank Walter said here Tuesday that Germany will increase its development assistance to Pakistan to meet the challenge of financial crisis.
Walter, who is on one-day visit to Islamabad, urged the international community to stand by Pakistan at the difficult time to overcome the challenges posed by economic crisis and terrorism.
While addressing a joint press conference co-chaired by Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Walter said his country wants to strengthen bilateral ties with Pakistan.
The German foreign minister lauded Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism, hoping Pakistan and Afghanistan will continue their political engagements for peace in the region and root out terrorism.
Qureshi said that both sides have agreed to bolster their cooperation in all the fields.
