Roadside bombings kill Afghan worker, wound 3 police

Kabul : Roadside bombings in Afghanistan claimed one local worker and left three policemen seriously wounded, said sources from police on Tuesday.

Abdul Razek, boder police chief in southern Afghan province of Kandahar told Xinhua that workers with a local road construction company were struck by roadside mine planted near their construction site in Spin Boldak district Tuesday morning leaving one dead and another wounded.

In another incident, one police vehicle Monday evening hit IEDs(Improvised Explosive Device) in Trin Kot district, capital of southern Afghanistan’s Uruzgan province leaving three policemen occupants seriously wounded, Juma Gul Humat, the provincial police chief said.

Taliban militants fighting with Afghan government have yet to make any comment.

Afghanistan has witnessed the surge of Taliban attacks on international forces, Afghan troops and even foreign aid groups during past months when the anti-government militants continue to demonstrate their strength through suicide and roadside bombings.

Escalating insurgency and violent incidents have left over 3,200 people dead with over 800 civilians since January this year in the war-torn country.
