The proposal was made by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir to Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal at a meeting, state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

Pakistan’s proposal is in pursuit of the agreement-in-principle already reached at the July 21 foreign secretary level talks held in New Delhi, said a foreign office statement.

Bashir also conveyed the readiness of the Pakistani Kashmir chamber of commerce to send a delegation to Srinagar soon.

The demand to open trade links through Kashmir was raised by Muslim demonstrators in Jammu and Kashmir during protests over handing forest land to a temple trust and subsequent blockade of the only motorable road link to the valley.
