Kolkata : India and China need to work together for ushering in peace in Asia, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said here Monday.
“India and China should work shoulder to shoulder to bring about peace in Asia,” Yang told reporters at the state secretariat Writers Buildings after meeting West Bengal Chief Minster Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in the morning.
He said he and Bhattacharjee discussed opportunities for Chinese investment in sectors like telecom, power and infrastructure in the state.
China was also looking at cooperation with the state in fields like sports and education.
West Bengal has been ruled by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Front government for the past 31 years.
