New Delhi : Prominent Muslim cleric, Shahi Imam Moulana Ahmed Bukhari, Wednesday accused the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal of having a role in the terror attacks in India.
Bukhari, the chief cleric of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, demanded a high level enquiry into the role of the VHP and the Bajrang Dal in blasts in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
A two-member delegation led by Bukhari met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding setting up of a judicial commission to look into the legality of cases according to which many Muslims have been arrested as terror suspects.
“Several innocent Muslim youth are being arrested under the cover of bomb blasts and terrorism in a planned way. We have lost faith in the administration and the police of the country (and) are feeling insecure,” Bukhari told reporters after he met the prime minister.
Charging the security forces with following double standards, the Shahi Imam said: “Muslims are being regarded as terrorists on one hand without any proof, on the other hand no action is taken against the activities of the VHP and Bajrang Dal.”
