The court issued the warrant after Tytler failed to turn up for a court hearing here Thursday.

Tytler had earlier also not appeared for hearings in the defamation case filed by Supreme Court lawyer H.S. Phoolka.

He has been accused of making defamatory statements against the lawyer on a television show last year.

Tytler was accused in 1984 of leading rioters in Delhi against Sikhs after two Sikh security guards of then prime minister Indira Gandhi assassinated her at her residence.
