The bill has already been passed by Gujarat state legislative Assembly and is lying with the Centre for months.

The Union Home Ministry filed an affidavit in Gujarat High Court on GUJCOC, on September 10 and said that recommending the passage of the legislation would be against the policy of the Central government, says a news report in Zee News.

The court had asked the Centre to give its reply on a petition of an NGO, Justice on Trial regarding the delay in the clearance of the bill.

The Union government said that it cannot recommend the passage of the Bill by the state legislature as it has already repealed a similar law (POTA).

The proposal of the state government has been submitted for consideration of the Cabinet and it is expected that the decision on it will be taken soon.

The next hearing of the case will take place after one month.
