Dubai : The International Compliance Association (ICA), a leading global provider of training in anti-money laundering, compliance and financial crime prevention, has opened a new office in Dubai.
The London headquartered ICA has set up its office at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in order to extend its geographical reach to the world’s leading financial centres, a DIFC statement here said.
“The new DIFC office is also indicative of the Association’s support of the UAE government’s initiatives in the area of compliance, and its commitment to working closely with monetary, law enforcement and regulatory authorities worldwide,” the statement said.
ICA chief executive Bill Howarth said the association’s move was in line with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) governments moving towards stricter compliance regulations even as the region played an increasingly active role in the global financial system.
“The ICA nurtures strong international relationships and this benefits individual s+tudents, the organizations they work for and the industry as a whole. We believe that good compliance equals good business,” Howarth said in the statement.
“ICA works with the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), EUROPOL (European Police Office), Serious Organised Crime Agency (UK), Financial Services Authority (UK) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore to name but a few,” he added.
ICA’s certificate and diploma programmes are offered to financial professionals across the world. Its programmes for both beginners and experienced practitioners are awarded in association with the University of Manchester Business School.
ICA awards seven internationally accredited certificates and diplomas through its arm, International Compliance Training (ICT).
DIFC is an onshore financial hub that this west Asian metropolis is aggressively promoting in its bid to become a global financial centre.
There are over 700 banking and financial institutions registered with the DIFC.
