Jakarta : Unidentified men made up mainly of former Aceh separatist rebels attacked the office of a political party on Wednesday morning in Bireun of Aceh province, causing damage but no casualties, local police said.
The attackers riding two motor cycles threw the grenade at the office of Aceh Party, one of the six local political parties which will contest for next years poll, Aceh provincial police spokesman Farid Ahmad said.
“The grenade attack only broke the window and walls of the building, but no one was hurt,” he told Xinhua on telephone from the province.
Police were investigating the attack, he said.
Oil-and-gas abundant Aceh province was hit by over three-decade bloody conflicts that killed over 15,000 people before a peace accord between Jakarta and the separatist Free Aceh Movement or GAM in 2005 in Helsinki, Finland.
