New Pakistan-India Trade Routes

New Delhi : In a major step to increase mutual confidence, Pakistan and India on Monday sealed a deal to open two commercial routes through the militarized checkpoint dividing them in Kashmir.

In the New Delhi meeting, delegations from the two countries’ foreign ministries agreed upon the trade modalities they will open next month between the cities of Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, and Poonch and Rawalkot.

Pakistan’s adjunct secretary for Foreign Affairs, Aijaz Ahmed Chowdhury, told press the two presidents will define the exact date when the meet in New York during the UN General Assembly late this month.

The products to be commercialized, customs affairs, and security issues were already defined in the meeting.
