Senate panel approves India nuclear deal

Washington : A key US Senate panel has approved the India-US civil nuclear deal 19-2 without a controversial proposal to give Congress more influence over future deals.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted Tuesday afternoon in favour of the deal as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh landed in New York. He is due to meet President George W. Bush at the White House Sep 25.
