New York : Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers held a meeting at the margins of the 63rd sessions of the United Nations General Assembly with Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergi Lavarov.
The GCC side Wednesday was headed by Qatari Foreign Affairs State Minister Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud in the presence of GCC Secretary General Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Atiya.
Both sides also discussed the Palestinian issue, Iraq, Iranian nuclear standoff, as well as economic issues and issues related to sustainable development.
The meeting discussed ways of boosting relations between the GCC countries and the Russian Federation in all fields.
The GCC Ministers also held a meeting with their European Union counterparts under France, current chair of EU. Present at the meeting was Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign Policy (CFSP).
Al Atiya said in a statement after the meeting that a number of political issues has been discussed, notably the Palestinian issue, Iraq, Iranian nuclear standoff and other issues of common interest.
