Ahmedabad : Kiran Bedi, the first woman IPS officer, Wednesday said strong anti-terror laws were needed to tackle the growing menace of terrorism in India.
Bedi, who was here to interact with students and parents of Ahmedabad Managament Association (AMA), said the prevailing laws were too weak to fight terrorism.
“Strong laws are needed to keep pace with the new challenges posed by terrorists,” Bedi said, adding that toning of the legal system too was needed.
She said policing and the quality of policemen needed to be spruced up with better service conditions.
Kiran Bedi, winner of the 1994 Ramon Magsaysay award, was the first woman to head Tihar jail. BBC recently premiered a film, “Yes Madam, Sir”, on her tumultuous career as India’s most famous woman police officer Kiran Bedi at the Toronto International Film Festival.
