Markets close with gains on roll-over of futures trade

Mumbai : Indian equities markets closed marginally in the green Tuesday mainly on account of roll-over trade of futures contracts ahead of their expiry Thursday even as the mood remained subdued, analysts said.

The 30-share benchmark sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) finished at 13,661.46, up 91.33 points or 0.67 percent over its previous close at 13,570.31.

The broader-based 50-share S&P Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also ended in the green at 4,152.95, a gain of 26.05 points or 0.52 percent over its previous close Tuesday at 4,126.90.

The BSE mid-cap index finished at 5,124.97, a gain of 11.66 points or 0.23 percent against its previous close Tuesday at 5,220.96.

The BSE small cap index closed at 6,106.14, a gain of 13.17 points or 0.22 percent against its previous close Tuesday at 6,194.11.

Advances and declines were more or less even with 1,329 stocks advancing and 1,235 stocks declining and 87 remaining unchanged.
