Clinton meet President Zardari

New York : Former President Bill Clinton met with President Asif Ali Zardari here Friday afternoon and discussed US-Pakistan relations and exchanged views on meeting challenges fin the South Asian region.

Senator Hillary Clinton later also joined the meeting during which the new Pakistani president briefed the US leaders about the democratic government’s endeavors to overcome economic and security problems facing the country.

Bill Clinton spoke of shared interest in fostering close relations between the two countries and expressed support for democracy and encouragement for the government’s efforts to pull the country out of economic troubles.

The leaders also discussed peace and security efforts in the region. President Zardari briefed them about his vision for socio-economic uplift of the people through a comprehensive strategy aimed at generating economic opportunities for them.

He also stressed the importance of international cooperation in dealing with security and economic challenges.
