Blasts hit mosques in Gujarat and Maharashtra, 4 dead

New Delhi: One blast each in Gujarat and Maharashtra killed four people and injured at least nine people according to the latest reports.

A low intensity blast hit Modasa town of Sabrakantha district of Gujarat. Two in a motorcycle bike dropped the low intensity bomb about 100 feet outside the Hidayat mosque in Suka Bazar area of Modasa. The blast that killed two people and injured six occurred just minutes before taraveeh prayers were to be over. Dead and injured are all Muslims. The blast occurred at 8:30 pm.

Malegaon was similarly struck around 9:30pm killing two and injuring three. Blast occured close to Noorani masjid.

Situation in Malegaon has turned tense after the blast and initial report suggest that a crowd attacked the police which fired to disperse the crowd. No news yet of any causality due to the police fire.

Yesterday three people were arrested by Hyderabad police moving around in a masjid suspiciously.

SP of Modasa confirmed that a timer device was used and bomb was in a parked motorcycle. The time of blast according to SP was 9:30pm.

Rest of Gujarat put on high alert.

Four confirmed dead in Malegaon blast.
