Slain Delhi Police inspector’s wife offered teacher job

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Monday visited the Dwarka house of the slain Delhi Police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and offered his wife a teacher’s post in a state-run school.

Dikshit also presented a cheque of Rs. 1.1 million, ex-gratia amount, to Sharma’s family.

Expressing her condolence and sympathy to the family, Dikshit described the inspector’s sacrifice as substantial contribution in overcoming those terrorists who were out to create chaos.

She offered Sharma’s wife a post of teacher in a Delhi government’s school and assured her all possible help.

Earlier, Delhi Police had announced that Sharma’s family would receive a sum of nearly Rs. 3 million. Delhi Police have also offered Sharma’s wife a job in the department.

In addition, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has named a city flyover after Sharma and promised a sum of Rs.500,000 for the family.

Sharma, 44, suffered three bullets when he went to capture five suspected terrorists hiding in south Delhi’s Batla House Sep 19. He later succumbed to the injuries in a hospital. He is survived by old parents, two children and the wife.
