New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes Tuesday said there is an urgent need for maintaining harmonious and cordial relationship between management and workers to prevent recurrence of Noida type of incidents in the future.
He was speaking at a seminar on ‘Promoting Employability through Skill Development’ organised by industry lobby Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham).
“India adheres to principles of Ahimsa (Non-Violence) and it has no space to accommodate violence,” Fernandes said.
“However, the fact remains that Naxal movements are erupting in India and nearly 150 districts are Naxal prone. I do not want to overlook and close my eyes to this reality,” the minister said.
On being probed further on the Noida issue by various correspondents, Fernandes said: “I do not wish to comment on it and would like to put a full stop to it until a proper debate is organised on the issue.”
