Srinagar : One militant of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit was killed and an army officer injured in a gunfight in south Kashmir Sunday, police said.
The shootout erupted after security forces in the morning surrounded a house in Pulwama district’s Aglar Kandi village, 40 kilometres from here, following specific information about the presence of two guerrillas there.
“One militant belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit was killed in the operation and the other militant is still engaging the surrounding forces in the gunfight,” a police officer said here.
“One captain of the army has suffered injuries in the gunfight,” the police officer said.
A residential house was also damaged in the gunfight.
