Bhopal : An Indian Mujahideen (IM) “terrorist”, who is suspected to have played a key role in the Ahmedabad and Jaipur serial blasts, was arrested from Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh Monday, police said.
“The arrested terrorist, Saif-ur-Rehman, 22, is suspected to have played a key role in Ahmedabad and Jaipur serial blasts. Rehman has been sent to two days in judicial custody,” Inspector General (Intelligence) M.S. Gupta told reporters.
“The police received a tip-off that an IM terrorist was travelling from Banaras to Mumbai by train and a police team led by Superintendent of Police Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Dharamvir Singh Yadav was sent to Jabalpur,” Gupta said.
Gupta said that the investigation conducted so far revealed that the arrested terrorist played a key role in May 13 Ahmedabad and July 26 Jaipur serial blasts.
Jaipur chief judicial magistrate’s court had issued an arrest warrant against Rehman.
Rehman has been sent to judicial custody for two days, Gupta added.
