New Delhi : The Election Commission Tuesday sought an explanation from Communications and IT Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for distributing letters highlighting the achievements of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government.
The Election Commission has asked him to file a written reply by Wednesday.
“The EC has sought explanation from Jyotiraditya Scindia for distributing letters in Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh. These letters were received by the commission and examined,” Deputy Election Commissioner R. Balakrishnan told reporters here.
“Though the letters were dated before the polls were announced, the Election Commission found that the letters were distributed after the announcement of the poll dates.”
Scindia has been renominated as Congress candidate from the Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh.
