New Delhi : It’s official. The weatherman in the national capital announced the onset of summer, as the temperature hovered above 40 degrees Celsius, four notches above what is normal for this time of the year.
“The maximum and minimum temperatures Wednesday were 40.1 and 20.4 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum is also one degree above the normal temperature,” said an official at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
“The temperature is rising because of the westerly winds and also the summer is setting in. It will continue to rise till we receive heavy dust storm,” the official said.
The official also ruled out possibilities of rain in the coming days.
The people in the city have begun complaining about the heat.
“If we have this temperature in April, then god knows what will happen in the months of May and June,” said Prince Sadana, a marketing executive.
Rohit Parashar, who commutes about Delhi on his motorcycle, said: “It’s really hot and it has become difficult to get out of the office to meet clients now.”
