A forensic team Saturday went to Panda’s village and visited the scene of the crime.

“We have recovered the revolver used in the killing. The revolver has a capacity of seven bullets out of which six bullets have been fired,” said Rabindra Patra, a member of forensic team from Bhubaneswar.

After probing the case, the forensic team said that it could be a case of suicide.

“It could be a case of suicide. We think that he had killed his family members from a close range. His wife was killed first. Later he could have fired at other members of his family. Some handwritten notes have been recovered. We are trying to match the writing with Panda’s writing,” Ramnath Swain, the deputy director of Bhubaneswar’s scientific lab, said.

Meanwhile Panda’s son Swapneswar, who survived the bullet injuries, is battling for his life in the Kalinga Hospital here. He was shifted to Bhubaneswar Friday evening after his condition deteriorated.
