Shihab Thangal’s brother elected president of Kerala Muslim League

Kochi: Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, brother of the deceased Syed Muhammedali Shihab Thangal, was unanimously elected as the new president of state Muslim League. The decision was taken in the emergency meeting of the party secretariat at the ancestral house (Kodappanakkal) of the Thangal family after the burial of Muhammedali Shihab Thangal.

The party decided to postpone all its public functions till Ramazan and to carry out relief activities more actively. The state committee formed the Shihab Thangal Relief Cell for the purpose.

The secretariat expressed its gratitude to all those in the religious, political, social and cultural fields as well as others who consoled the family and party at the demise of Shihab Thangal. Special thanks were expressed to the police who controlled the people, the state that conferred official honours and media persons.

Hyderali Shihab Thangal (62) has been the president of the Malappuram district Muslim League Committee for the past 25 years. He is also the chairman of the party’s state disciplinary committee. He presently serves as the state president of Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (Sunni youth organisation), state general secretary of Sunni Mahall Federation and treasurer of Samastha Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabhyasa Board (education board) among others.

National President E Ahmed presided over the secretariat meeting. State general Secretary PK Kunhalikkutty delivered the vote of thanks.
