Two school dropouts arrested for stealing bicycles

New Delhi : Two school dropout boys were arrested Sunday and 25 stolen bicycles were recovered from them in the capital, police said.

Acting on a complaint of Manmohan Singh about his son’s bicycle theft, the city Police arrested the two dropouts from Saket area Sunday morning.

“In the recent past, many bicycle thefts, particularly of costly geared cycles, were reported. A strict vigil was kept. Today morning, two juveniles were found roaming in the Saket area with a bicycle,” a police officer said.

“When enquired, they could not justify their presence in the area and also could not explain about the bicycle they had. They revealed that they had stolen this bicycle form Saket area. On further examination, they revealed that they had stolen a number of bicycles from Saket, Neb Sarai and Mehrauli area,” the officer added.

Twenty-five bicycles worth Rs.75,000 were recovered at their instance, according to police.

“Both the juveniles are residents of Saidulajab and are school dropouts. In order to meet their pocket expenses, they started stealing bicycles. The stolen bicycles were sold by them in their colony at low prices,” the officer said.
