Karachi : The Pakistan Society for Study of Liver Diseases (pssld) here on Wednesday announced to hold the 6th APASL Single Topic Conference on Acute liver Failure : Asian-Pacific Perspectives here from December 10 to 12.
The event holds extreme relevance as Acute Liver Failure is a catastrophic condition that severely tests the medical expertise of the care providers and yet is also gratifying to treat; as full recovery is expected in those patients who come through.
PSSLD President, Prof. Wasim A Jafferi said: “ALF is also a prime indication for liver transplantation, a facility which is sadly missing in many parts of our region.
Moreover, they recognize that the etiology, prognostic indicators and outcomes of patients with ALF in Asia-Pacific may be quite different from those in the western hemisphere.”
The conference will endeavor to develop an Asian-Pacific perspective on ALF and its management through plenary sessions, symposia, meets the expert sessions and targeted debates.
An ALF Study Group for Asia-Pacific is also proposed to help collect further data from the region and study various aspects of ALF in Asia.
