Rio de Janeiro : The Brazilian navy is looking for seven fishermen who disappeared when a fishing boat capsized in the Atlantic off the southeastern state of Espiritu Santo.
Of the 17 crewmembers on board the Estrella del Mar 4, 10 managed to make it to shore in a lifeboat after last Saturday’s accident, according to a communique issued by the navy, which did not learn of the capsize until the following day.
Other fishing boats joined navy vessels and helicopters in the search for the missing crew members.
The navy said that the 25-metre boat was found floating Sunday afternoon some 35 km offshore from the coastal resort of Conceicao da Barra.
Survivors said that the wind capsized the boat during heavy seas.
