Police said Saturday that efforts were on to nab Ranjit Bajaj. He has been blamed for causing disturbance at a private party in a discotheque in Sector 26 Friday.

Ranjit, accompanied by his three private security guards, allegedly forcibly entered the discotheque and misbehaved with the guests. When the police intervened, he tore off the uniform of a constable.

“Ranjit misbehaved with the cops. We raided his house but he was not there. We are raiding other places and will arrest him,” police officer Raghbir Singh told IANS.

Sub-inspector Nirmal Singh has been suspended for failing to arrest Ranjit Bajaj.

Party organiser Trilochan Singh said: “We had organised the party for our family friends. Suddenly four unknown men came and started dancing. When we tried to stop them, they started abusing and threatening us.”

He said Ranjit and his guards – Pardeep, Narinder and Mohinder – scuffled with his family members outside the discotheque.

“Police came but remained mute spectators and did not stop Ranjit and his accomplices,” he said.

“They even allowed Ranjit to leave the place and only arrested his guards. His name was not even mentioned in the complaint,” he added.
