Mumbai: The condition of Pravin Mahajan, sentenced to life for killing his elder brother, BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, continues to remain critical Sunday following his brain haemorrhage late Friday, doctors said Sunday.
“His blood pressure has stabilised but he remains critical. He is being continued on life-support systems,” a spokesman for Jupiter Hospital in Thane said Sunday evening.
Pravin Mahajan was rushed to the hospital around 1030 p.m. Friday after he complained of fatigue, giddiness and severe headache.
He had been released on parole from Nashik Central Jail where he is serving his life term for killing his elder brother Pramod, who was a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
Mahajan was required to report back to the Nashik Central jail Saturday after completing the period of 14 days of furlough on which he was released as per the jail rules.
A team of specialist medicos, including a physician, neurologist, neurosurgeon, intensivist and a cardiologist, is taking care of him, the hospital said.
Soon after his release on furlough, Pravin Mahajan said that he would spend time with his wife and two children at his Thane residence.
He had also said that he would not make any contact with or meet any of his friends or acquaintances.
On April 22, 2006, Pravin had shot Pramod Mahajan at his Worli residence in Mumbai. Pramod succumbed to the bullet injuries May 3.
