New Delhi: Qatar will consider meeting India’s demand for additional supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) on a long-term basis, the petroleum ministry said Wednesday.
This was conveyed to Indian Petroleum Minister Murli Deora Wednesday by Abdulla Bin Ahmed Al-Attiyah, Qatar’s deputy premier, in Doha, Qatar.
The Indian minister, on a visit to Qatar, is accompanied by a high-level delegation of petroleum secretary R.S. Sharma and heads of Indian state-run oil companies.
“Qatar has agreed to consider to meet Indian demand for supplying LNG on a long term basis,” said the release.
The Qatari minister also gave instructions to the state-run Ras Gas to hold discussions with Indian companies to “chalk out plans for the supply of 5 million tonnes of LNG to India on a long-term basis”.
