Many women scholars read papers in seminar on Islamic literature

Bhopal: The Council for Islamic Literature (Majlise-e-Adab-e-Islami), Madhya Pradesh branch of Aalami Rabta-e-Adab-e-Islami, organized 8th All India seminar on “Literary pursuits & samples of Islamic literature of Madhya Pradesh’s Ulema, Litterateurs & Sufis” here on Sunday wherein more than two dozen scholars presented their research papers.

The seminar was presided over by Maulana Mohammad Peer Saeed Miyan Mujaddadi, Rector Dar-ul-Uloom Taj-ul-Masajid. Maulana Nazrul Hafeez from Nadwatui Ulema, Lucknow graced the seminar as Guest of Honour. Others present on the dais included Prof. Abdul Ali from Aligarh, Prof. Hassan Khan of Barkatullah University, Maulana Shoeb Koti from Mumbai, Maulana Umair Siddiqui from Azamgarh, Maulana Habeeb Rehan Nadwi Azhari etc.

Dr. Mohammad Arif Junaid Khan Nadwi, general secretary, Council for Islamic Literature, presented report on the activities of the organization in the inaugural session. Dr. Jaleel Siddiqui presented a book on the occasion to Peer Saeed Miyan penned by him on the well-known Mufti family of Bhopal. Well-known poet Manzar Bhopali rendered Na’at on the occasion which was highly appreciated.

There were three sessions in the seminar. Scholars from various universities and Islamic seminaries such as Lucknow, Aligarh, Azamgarh, New Delhi, Mumbai and other cities of the country along with from all over Madhya Pradesh read their research papers in the seminar.

It may be noted here that women scholars evinced keen interest in the seminar and about a dozen of them presented their research papers which were appreciated by the assemblage. A number of papers were presented on two towering women of Bhopal viz. Ms Tayyaba Khala and late Ms Sabeeha Akhtar Baji, for their pioneer works on girls education with special reference to Arabic and Islamic education.

The subject title of the seminar “Literary pursuits & samples of Islamic literature of Madhya Pradesh’s Ulema, Litterateurs & Sufis” was divided into six sub-titles. They were: (i) Literary works of Ulema, (ii) Literary works of the rulers of Bhopal state, (iii) Litterateurs and Islamic scholars’ connection with Bhopal, (iv) Literary works of litterateurs of Madhya Pradesh, (v) Literary centres of Madhya Pradesh and their literary activities and (vi) Literary works of Sufis of Madhya Pradesh.

It may be mentioned here that the Council for Islamic Literature (Majlise-e-Adab-e-Islami), Madhya Pradesh has been working for last so many years and has conducted many seminars for the promotion of constructive literature. The main objective of the Aalami Rabta-e-Adab-e-Islami, is to promote Islamic constructive and reformative literature in the face of destructive literature prevalent all over so that humanity at large could be guided in the right direction.
