Doha : A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the Foreign Ministry headquarters here between Qatar and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) pertaining to scopes of cooperation between the two sides in the context of the brotherly relations between Qatar and Iraq.
The MoU was signed Sunday by Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah on behalf of Qatar and Minister for Housing and Reconstruction Imad Ahmad on behalf of the Kurdistan Government.
Ahmad said in statements that the MoU is related to cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, agricultural development, agricultural investment, tourism and aviation; as well as and the possibility of opening a Qatari consulate in the region with the approval of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry and the opening of an office for the Kurdistan region in Qatar.
Ahmad underlined the importance of developing and enhancing economic and political relations between Qatar and Iraq, including the Kurdistan region, noting that all agreements between the Kurdistan region and other countries are signed with the knowledge of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
