Jammu : A five-member cabinet ministers’ team led by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather will talk to protesting employees of Jammu and Kashmir, who are on a three-day strike demanding implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, an official spokesman said Tuesday.
The strike continued on the second day Tuesday as around 400,000 employees stayed off work, asking for hike in salaries, enhancement of the retirement age from 58 to 60 years and regularisation of services of thousands of temporary employees.
The state-wide strike has paralysed the working in the government offices.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in consultations with his ministerial colleagues late Tuesday evening announced a five-member cabinet subcommittee to talk to the employees, the spokesman said.
Other members of the committee are: Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar, Industries Minister Surjit Singh Salathia, Public Health Engineering Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed.
The talks are likely to be held Wednesday.
