India worried at Pakistan-Taliban pact

New Delhi : Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony Friday expressed worry at the accord between the Pakistan government and the Taliban on the Swat Valley.

“From 26/11 (the terrorist attacks in Mumbai) onwards, we are very much concerned about the security scenario. This new development, in a way, adds to our worries,” Antony told reporters here.

Hwoever, Pakistan defended the accord, which imposes Shariat in the Swat Valley and parts of the North West Frontier Province, saying it was linked to restoring peace in an area that is largely controlled by the Taliban.
