New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Saturday informed a court here that investigation in the alleged role of former union minister Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots would be complete within a month.
The investigating agency submitted before the court that it has already examined 10 witnesses in the case and the final report will be submitted by March 28.
Senior Counsel for Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee H.S. Phoolka, however, expressed concern over the delay in the investigation and pleaded before additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Pandit to direct the agency to expedite the inquiry.
The CBI earlier told the court that it had examined California-based witness Jasbir Singh in the case. Initially, it expressed reservations over going to the US to record his statement and issued notice to Jasbir to come to India.
Jasbir in an affidavit before the Nanavati Commission stated that on Nov 3, 1984 he had overheard Tytler rebuking his men for nominal killing of Sikhs in his constituency.
