AIP President Mohammad Jassem Al-Sager said at the end of an extraordinary session of the pan-Arab parliament Sunday the Arab MPs called on Arab countries to work for holding an urgent UN General Assembly (UNGA) meeting to discuss the Israeli aggression.

He said the AIP meeting aimed at launching an urgent appeal for an Israeli immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza.

The AIP called for the activation of the Arab joint defence pact to provide protection for the Palestinian people and the Arab national security, said Al-Saqer, an MP from Kuwait.

He criticized the excessive use of arms by the Israeli army against the innocent Palestinians, and hailed the Palestinian resistance for fighting back. Over 400 Palestinians were killed in Gaza since the Israeli army began its onslaught on Dec 26, with the toll of injured exceeding 2,000.

Al-Saqer said the AIP appealed for urgent financial support for the UN Palestinian refugees agency to help the needy Palestinians in Gaza.

He held Israel fully accountable for the failure of all efforts to achieve peace in the region.

Al-Saqer also blamed the US for rejecting a draft resolution in the UN Security Council (UNSC) to halt the Israeli aggression in Gaza.

The AIP welcomed steps taken by the Palestinian factions to return to the table of dialogue for the sake of national unity.

Al-Saqer said the Arab lawmakers called for opening an international investigation to try those who committed crimes against humanity in occupied Palestinian territories.

The MPs appreciated Egypt’s role to open the Rafah crossing to receive the Palestinian injured and allow entry of humanitarian and medical supplies for the Gazans.

They called for the establishment of an Arab centre to document the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
