S. Arunachalam, eastern regional secretary of Indian Oil Officers’ Association, told IANS: “Supply has got affected. At least 30 percent pumps across the state have run dry.”

In the city, there were long queues of cars before petrol pumps that still had stocks of petro-products.

Several petrol pumps said they had run out of diesel, and petrol was also almost exhausted.

V.K. Monga, director of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, said several flights were delayed as there were inadequate number of staff refilling the oil tanks.

“I heard now the executives are doing the work themselves. There is a shortage of manpower because of the oil PSU strike,” he told IANS.
