At least 5 killed in bomb attacks in Baghdad

Baghdad : At least five people were killed and 14 others injured in three bomb attacks in Baghdad on Monday morning, an Interior Ministry source said.

A booby-trapped car bomb, followed by a roadside bomb detonated in a quick succession near a police patrol in Baghdad’s al-Jadida or New Baghdad, district, killing three people and wounding ten others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

One more civilian was killed and another injured when a roadside bomb went off at the industrial district of Shiekh Omer in central Baghdad, the source said.

Meanwhile, a fifth civilian was killed and three policemen were injured when a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol close to a traffic police headquarters in Baghdad central district of Karrada, the source added.

Despite security gains in recent months in Iraq, there are still sporadic bombings, which shape setback to the Iraqi government.
