Holy Kaaba washed

Makkah : On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al Faisal washed the Holy Kaaba yesterday. Upon arrival at the holiest site in Islam, Prince Khaled was welcomed by Sheikh Salih Al Hussein, head of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Holy Mosque of Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque, and other officials. The ceremony was attended by a number of diplomats in the Kingdom as well as several pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Mosque.

The customary washing of Kaaba was done with Zamzam mixed with rose water. The holiest shrine in Islam is washed twice in a year while it is adorned with a new cover (Kiswa) once in every year.
