Turkish plan, a way to do away with Gaza crisis

Tehran, Jan 13, IRNA – While Gaza crisis entered 18th day today and some 5,000 Gazans were martyred and wounded by the Zionist regime, Turkey has offered a plan to end to the ongoing crisis in the region said an analysis by IRNA’s Research and News Studies Office.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has presented a two-stage peace plan based on the first stage of which ceasefire will come into force, entries to Gaza will be re-opened and Turkish forces will be deployed in the region as peace-keeping forces.
The second phase includes negotiations to reconcile the Palestinian groups.

In the recent past days, two separate plans for solving crisis in Gaza were presented by Egypt and Turkey.

Last week, President Hosni Mubarak offered a three-article plan on the basis of which ceasefire will be put into force in Gaza Strip and talks between Palestinians and Israelis will start.

He also called for resumption of talks between the Palestinians themselves.
Mubarak made the move while he was among the patrons of the Zionist regime which was out to destroy Hamas.

The basic problem with the plan was is that Hamas as the main party of the adventure is absent in it.

It is clear that a plan without Hamas will be doomed.

Egypt’s plan was in line with the US’ policies and against Gazans’ interests. The plan is a completely American-style move which will disarm the people of Gaza forever and block their victory.

The US will surely support such a plan and Israel will become happy upon its implementation because it advocates remaining of the occupying forces in Gaza and extending ceasefire for years.

Hamas officials have declared that they do not accept the plan because they do not deem it expedient to the Palestinians.

However, although Turkey’s plan is not fully desirable, due to its realistic contents, it can help put an end to massacre in Gaza.

It is a good plan because it has called for ceasefire, lifting siege on Gazans and opening Rafah Border Crossing, signifying Turkey’s positive attitude towards Gazans’ rights.

The plan will be supported by Muslim countries because Gaza siege and military attack are against international norms.

Blocking Rafah Border Crossing also contravenes Islamic tenets as well as the ethical and neighborhood principles.

Turkey’s plan is in line with Palestinians and Muslim nations’ interests. It won support from Russia, Iran, Qatar, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Algeria, Sudan, and Hamas, which are considered a strong pivot on Gaza issue.

Despite the realistic nature of the plan, evidence reveal that it will not be backed by most of the permanent members of the UN Security Council and the possibility for its being a resolution is low.

However, Turkey’s plan as well as countries advocating the rights of the Gazans will bring about many changes in the interests of the Palestinians.
