A division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar told the residents of Sainik Farms that they were not equal to slum-dwellers and were not entitled to regularisation.

“You have broken the law, you have constructed your houses on greenland and you are referring to Article 14 for equality. You can take up your case with the government,” the court added.

Counsel for the petitioners told the court that it had granted relief in similar matters.

As many as 38 petitioners had approached the court seeking protection from demolition saying they had been living in the area for years and they should not be removed.
