Hamdan was speaking shortly before the Israeli security cabinet announced a unilateral ceasefire in Gaza.

“If there will be an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a lifting of the siege, Hamas will then be able to deal with the issue positively,” Hamdan said.

He added: “We are waiting for a clear Israeli stand because there is confusion on how the withdrawal would take place from Gaza and when the siege will be lifted….”

Earlier, Hamdan said that even if Israel approves a unilateral ceasefire, Hamas’ resistance will continue.

“As long as Gaza is occupied by Zionist soldiers, the confrontations will continue even if Israel approves a unilateral ceasefire,” Hamdan said.

“There is a plot to change the course of the Egyptian proposal for a truce because the unilateral ceasefire does not call for an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza,” he said.
