New Delhi : The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police Saturday arrested a clerk in connection with the disappearance of some documents from the office of the Congress party-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI) Thursday.
NSUI officials had alleged that media persons had taken the documents. They had also denied media reports that stolen documents belonged to Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
The police arrested Vikas Rana, an upper division clerk, and produced him before a magistrate, who sent him to police custody for six days.
The papers were stolen form the NSUI’s Delhi head office Thursday during an event.
“There was a workshop of the organisation during which Rahul Gandhi was also present. During the lunch break we had all gone to the restaurant. There was no one except media people and some documents of the organisation were taken by someone,” H.Y. Eden, NSUI’s national president, told IANS.
When asked if some of Gandhi’s notes were stolen, he said: “No, there were no personal papers of Rahul Gandhi. Some internal documents of the organisation had gone missing for which a complaint was lodged in the Parliament Street police station.”
