A bench of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raj Rahul Garg announced the quantum of sentence Saturday. The two were convicted Thursday.

According to police, the defaced body of 17-year-old Promila was found July 20 last year in a forested area near Kajheri, a suburb here.

Police arrested the victim’s father Jaswant Singh and brother Sunil July 23. During interrogation, they confessed to killing Promila to save the ‘honour of the family’ as the unmarried girl was four-month pregnant.

“The girl was strangulated, her face was smashed with a stone and acid was thrown all over her body to hide her identity. Her clothes were also torn off to give the impression that she was also raped, but that was not proved in the medical reports,” said Manu Kakkar, public prosecutor.
