“Even though the police department does not maintain separate registers on cyber crimes against women, it is now common knowledge that women, especially school and college girls and young women, are falling prey to this crime,” Sreemathi said.

Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, chief justice of the Kerala High Court S.R. Bannurmath, legal luminaries and top police officials will take part the meeting to be held in Kochi.

“Apart from the public meeting, the workshop will have academic sessions regarding cyber crimes and cyber laws. We expect this would help women fight the threat from cyber space. Soon we will conduct similar exercises at all district headquarters,” said Sreemathi.
