Bhubaneswar: At least 10 people, including two women, were killed in Orissa Tuesday when a speeding truck rammed into the jeep in which they were travelling, police said.
The accident took place on the National Highway 5, some 35 km from Baripada district headquarters, 270 km from here.
“The driver of the truck lost control (over the wheel) after one of the tyres of the truck burst. The speeding truck then collided with the jeep coming from the opposite direction,” police Inspector Tarun Das told IANS.
Das said all the people, including two women and the driver, in the jeep died on the spot. The accused driver and the cleaner of the truck were absconding, he said.
