Bhopal : Newly appointed Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta (public ombudsman) Justice Prakash Navlekar, who assumed office here Monday stressed upon the key role that the common man can play in curbing corruption.
“People take shelter in corruption in a bid to escape from the difficulties but this begins endless series of problems for them… The common man can play a key role in curbing corruption,” he told reporters after taking oath of Lokayukta’s office at the Governor’s House here.
Nevlekar said that if people act legally, they may face some difficulties but would at least avoid getting trapped in corruption.
He also assured that the cases pending with the Lokayukta’s office will be settled soon with all transparency and without any partiality. “I will settle the cases as soon as possible within legal limits and with full transparency and without any partiality,” he said.
Earlier, outgoing Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar administered the oath of office to Justice Navlekar.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Jamuna Devi, Ministers Babulal Gaur, Raghavji, Jayant Mallaiya, Kailash Vijayvargiya and Congress’ state unit chief Suresh Pachouri besides senior officers were present on the occasion.
