Napier : The first one-day international (ODI) between India and New Zealand resumed after two hours and 20 minutes of play was lost due to rain forcing the officials to reduce it to a 38 overs per side here Tuesday.
With 12 overs short, three bowlers can bowl eight overs and two can bowl seven. The Powerplays will be in blocks of eight, four and three overs.
Gloomy weather with a persistent drizzle stopped play in the fifth over with India 27 for no loss. Virender Sehwag was batting on 23 off 19 balls and Tendulkar three when play was halted.
India’s skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat on the batsman-firendly McLean’s Park pitch.
