Audi India sells 113 vehicles in February

New Delhi : Despite the auto industry facing the brunt of a slowing economy, the high-end segment seems to have weathered the storm with luxury carmaker Audi reporting a considerable increase in their monthly sales for the second consecutive month.

The German car manufacturer, posted a year-on-year increase of about 95 percent selling, 113 vehicles in February against 58 cars in the corresponding month last year.

The automaker, which offers six models in the Indian market had registered similar sales growth in January, selling 109 units against 56 sold in January 2008.

To continue with the growth momentum, the company indicated it would launch new models this year and expanding its sales network to newer urban markets. Currently, Audi has a dealership network spanning Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, Chennai, Kochi and Kolkata.

“Our steady growth in India is reflected once again in our sales performance last month that has almost doubled when compared to February 2008. To gain additional market share we are looking forward to introducing new models and expanding our dealerships network to mini-metro cities this year,” Benoit Tiers, managing director of Audi India said in a statement.

Prices of Audi models in India range from Rs.3 million (Rs.30 lakh) to Rs.15 million (Rs.1.5 crore).
